Chance Pe Dance - Music Review:

Ken Ghosh and Shahid Kapoor are back together after a hiatus. Shahid and Ken began their filmy careers together with Ishq Vishk and continued with the dud Fida. The duo are back Adnan Sami in tow with Chance Pe Dance. And very quickly you realize that the film will house lots of dance numbers and music that will make you bust a move. Sami who takes on dual role as lead singer and music composer for CPD, has quite the shoes to fill after both of Ghoshs’ previous films delivered incredibly well on the music front. And thus, realizing that he may not be able to handle the pressure, Sami has the support of his director Ken Ghosh and Sandeep Shirodkar as co-composers. Read on to see if you should take a chance on this album or ignore it completely.

Pump It Up starts the album off with quite a bang. The immensely dynamic Vishal Dadlani literally rocks the house with this pumping number. A definite hit with the youth, Pump It Up makes you click your fingers and tap your toes just before you break out into full on dance mode.
And then we are a tad bit letdown when we hear Rishta Hai Mera. Even after the song is sung by the talented Shaan and feminine Tulsi Kumar, the lyrics are a complete downer as is the composition. As a result, both these great singers are left sounding empty and dull with nothing to do.

After quite a while we get to hear the melodious Kunal Ganjawala sing a number that does complete justice to his style of singing. Yaba Daba Yahoo, which incidentally was the initial name for the film, is an old-school infused song filled with old-fashioned lyrics and composition. Fun and enjoyable; Yaba Daba Yahoo is a joyride.

I’m biased when it comes to this next track. Amit Kumar is an immensely talented singer who really hasn’t been exploited enough but thankfully, he comes alive in Just Do It! I’m not sure if it’s the extra energy Kumar naturally possesses or the somewhat “cool” lyrics, but the song works well.

What is a soundtrack nowadays without award-winning Shreya Ghosal? And joining her is Soham on vocals in Pal Mein Hi. The duo try hard but really cannot revive this wannabe and try-hard number thus making them both seem incredibly average and somewhat strange.
Pritam plays guest composer and it is most likely that Ghosh thought the music director would jut out a Mauja number again. However Pe Pe Mein is hardly that. We are left asking for more and Hard Kaur fails to impress.

Chance Pe Dance is pretty much an average affair which really doesn’t say too much for a film that is based on the theme of dance and music. Adnan Sami does a simply ordinary job as head music composer. You could pass off this album and listen to Ishq Vishk or Fida instead.
